After reading other reviews on this place I was very sceptical about going, but have just come back from 2 weeks there and was impressed. Had pool view and pool was lovely and clean. No sun loungers, but took towel and laid on grass. Apartment was very clean - everything worked and managed to do washing in machine there before we came home! We did not arrive till after 12 when reception shut but no problem collecting keys from security box and good instructions to get to room. Welcome pack waiting for us with basic essentials. Maid came in every day except Sunday and sheets and towels changed twice weekly. Only drawback would be if had teenagers or young children as no entertainment there. All in all good holiday
The accommodation is in a block of mainly privately owned apartments. The one we were in was tired, dated and needed some TLC. The TV was old and we could only get spanish channels. In the master bedroom the wooden bed surround was dangerous to shins, we scraped the skin off ours nearly every day! There was no kettle, or sink plug, but they were provided when we mentioned it to the staff at reception. However the first kettle they provided leaked like a sieve and the second one had just been repaired using a silicone gel, so we stuck to using the only pan in the kitchen to boil water for drinks! The pool was cordoned off and clearly not maintained, which is a shame as it could have been lovely. There were no sunbeds or chairs roundnit either. Possibly because it is a residential block. We had to pay €3 for 1 hours wifi, but it was a very poor connection. We couldn't find the gym or sauna (which you have to pay to use). The maid service did come every day except Sunday and it was reasonably clean and comfortable but the furniture badly needs updating. The staff were helpful and pleasant. There was free on street parking available, but we were there in early May so it might not be as plentiful later in the season. This is not anywhere that I would recommend. We went out all day and evening each day we were there and only used it as a base. If I had young children and had to spend more time in the apartment I would have been extemely disappointed with the place and may have felt the need to relocate somewhere else.
Party animals on both sides of the apt, noise and screaming went on till 3am every night. No sleep, so we wasted the days just catch up on sleep. We had 8 days here, but we checked out after 4. The floors were so dirty, it made our feet black. The kitchen only had one plug for all the appliances. The shower soap dispenser did not pump soap, only leaked. The TV sucked. The walls were very thin, you can here everything next door. Overall, ruined our trip here.
Perfect Location. Far enough away from the beach and the noise and yet close enough to all the things you will need. The resort is an 8 minute walk from where the Plana bus from the Barcelona airport lets you off at the Plaza Europa. It is a 10 minute walk to the beach and a 5 minute walk to restaurants. It is 15 minute walk to a major supermarket and fish market where we did a lot or our shopping for fresh produce, groceries and of course seafood. The resort is made up of 3 large buildings with a beautiful pool that meets the needs of all age groups. The grounds are very cleans as other the buildings. It however can be noisy as Europeans love their soccer and when the home team scores there is a lot of yelling and whistling but I guess that is to be expected. The rooms were very spacious and the kitchen met our needs. We had a two bed, two bath and a large living room, nice balcony. My only real complaint is that it does not have air conditioning (which we were advised ) and leaving your window open you get the street noise which makes sleeping difficult in the summer months. You can rent the air conditioning units but they are not that cheap. The security is great, you get a key that lets you in the main building and your floor and another key that lets you in your room. The windows also have bars on them so there is no problem leaving your window open. You can buy internet access 2 hours for 5 euros and you can use it anytime until your two hours is up. You are charged 30 euros a week for utilities which we were advised about. I should add that we traveled to Barcelona on two Plana Bus Tours ( which were very good )and their office is 5 minute walk from the hotel. We also traveled by bus using the T10 tickets ( much cheaper than paying individual fairs)to Reus, Cambril and Tarragona. You pickup the T10 card from the Toabacco shop down at the beach. You can pick up the bus for Cambril and Tarragona down at the beach which is 15 minute walk from the hotel. The bus to Reus is a 3 minute walk from the hotel. You should talk to the people at the information bureau at the Europa Plaza for information and maps and where to get the T10 tickets. Make sure they spell out where to catch the buses as their map is not to scale. When they say across from McDonalds or beside McDonalds they mean close to McDonalds etc. . You can email them and they will send you information which is definitely a help. I also emailed the resort and they were very helpful as well. If you are flying into Barcelona you leave the airport ( follow the directions to the buses and then go downstairs and over to the Plana bus which is a short walk down the street. I can't remember the stall number. If we were to go back to Salou we would stay there again.
