I would never recommend anyone to stay here, a few nights into our stay we got robbed & didn't feel safe at all after that, the burglar was able to just waltz into the buildings & force is way into our room. Not much was done, the police came to check our room & then that was it really nothing else was done regardless of them stealing something so sentimental. It was quite obvious it's happened before by the way the women at reception was acting so if you don't want to get important stuff taken from you don't stay here. The German people didn't help by being so unfriendly, on several occasions when the kids were in the pool on there own & we was watching them from the balcony German girls kept on jumping on them in the water which i felt was extremely immature they're just children. Also there is a bar right under the apartments which unfortunately both sides of the apartment you could hear the music playing till late in the morning. I was quite confused as after taking a trip down to this bar no one had drink so i assume it was some kind of drugs bar or something. We won't be staying again & i feel for you if you've already booked your holiday and you're only just seeing this, it was the worst experience of my life.
I always try to give fair reviews so I will list the +'s and -'s as per my experience. Don't confuse this place with the very nice looking Mar Blau hotel just up the round!! I found the reception to be helpful on arrival but there is a 60 Euro deposit which is returned when you leave. The apartment is clean but you make your own beds and you will not see a maid for the duration of your holiday. We stayed over a week and didn't have one during our time there. This means you buy your own toilet rolls and additional bin bags if necessary. I found the beds to be very comfortable and there was a change of sheets/towels provided in the lounge area cupboard. The kitchen fairly well equipped in terms of cutlery and crockery, however, there is no kettle and if you are self catering, there are only 2 rings to cook on, despite us having had 3 saucepans. There is no grill or oven - just the 2 rings. There is a TV and sofa bed - we didn't use the sofa bed (except as a sofa) so I can't comment on it's comfort as a bed. The pool is small but extremely clean as is the area around it. However, there is no baby/paddling pool and the shallow end is 1 metre deep. Also there didn't seem to be any toilets around the pool which might be a problem for families with younger children. We were almost out of season so it was very quiet there but if the place were fully booked, I can imagine the pool area being quite crowded and sun beds hard to come by. There is a cocktail bar attached to the premises which was a bit noisy at times but it didn't bother us to much. The location is fairly built up so ask for an apartment with a pool view or your balcony will just overlook the roads and other buildings. There was no wifi connection available that we could access. The location is brilliant. Away from most of the noise but 2 minutes walk away from the start of the bars and restaurants. The sea is about a 7 minute walk away and the beach is good. If you can get a reasonable price for these apartments then it's worth it. I would stay here again but as my head line said, I have had better and paid less. Have a nice holiday :-)
Needed a cheap stay over in Calella, and my usual option was fully booked. Decided to try these apartments, and was not disappointed! In fact, I will use these apartments again, instead of the ones I have booked in the past. Pros include a large balcony, with two patio doors, one from the bedroom and one from the living room area. The room came with two sets of towels and two sets of sheets, for a 7 night stay. It was quiet, the walls were not paper thin (as in the hotels) and you never heard anyone elses toilet flush, shower run or the lifts in the night. The pool area was of a high standard, and was popular with people seeking a cheap afternoon in the sun with their own food and drink. Cons would be that the reception isn't 24 hours, so you have to arrive in the late morning or early afternoon, or wait for them to arrive with your key. There is no service in the room during your stay, so no sheet or towel changes, and no more toilet roll other than the two you receive on arrival. The space is large, with a good sized bathroom, living area and bedroom. There are two electric rings, a selection of utensils and crockery and a fridge. There is no kettle, and no oven. Overall, this is a better place to stay than most of the hotels. The food served in them isn't great, and these apartments are close to many great eateries, and several small supermarkets and one larger one, all of whom sell cheap fresh fruit, vegetables and meats.
I was missold a holiday from a firm and thought I was staying with my family at Mar Blau Hotel as this is where the firm told me to look on Tripadvisor to see the pictures of the hotel. Upon arrival I was gutted upon driving past Mar Blau Hotel and pulling up outside Mar Blau Apartments which to be fair was not as impressive to look at by a long chalk. We did have a reccie at the Mar Blau Hotel to see the pool, but after 10 minutes our children wanted to go back to the Appartmentos as the hotel pool was so busy you could not move. We also met a family who stayed at The Olympic Hotel in Calella, or Beirut as most people called it, and they checked out and paid to come and stay here as it was so much better than what they had on offer. Mar Blau ended up being a great place to stay with a family. The pool was spotless and not busy at all. We had a brilliant evening in there in the dark. Rooms were super clean. The staff were brilliant and we got our deposit back even though our keys were dropped down the lift shaft! There is a bar attached to the place which does not seem to have anything to do with the Mar Blau. It can be noisy but to be fair we all slept brilliantly. If you just want a week to crash out in the heat, with or without children, I would highly reccomend Mar Blau APPARTMENTOS!
Basic and central Appartments staff not all that helpful for the five days we stayed no cleaner came in but we were not too bothered by this the cocktail bar downstairs was great most of our nights ended and began with bora bora cocktail bar all in all good value for girls holiday
