4,0 Thank you Sarah

On Priceline.com website, I requested all the hotels in Mykonos and the Kamari hotel came up and I booked it. Prior to my daughter arriving to Mykonos, I corresponded with Sarah at the Hotel Kamari and she assured me that she would make my daughter honeymoon stay at their hotel memorable. When my daughter and her husband got to the Kamari hotel in Mykonos and showed receptionist their reservation paper they were told they were on the wrong island. They were able to stay the night at this hotel, but full booked for the rest of the week. I must say Sarah at the Hotel Kamari, Kamares was gracious to only charge my daughter for 50% of her stay. Priceline customer service did cancel the reservations by calling the hotel. But did not offer any help to find my daughter a place to stay. I find the Priceline.com website is very misleading if you ask for all the hotels in the island of Mykonos why are hotels on different islands coming up. I would never again use Priceline.com again.

4,0 A great find, modern, clean, and tidy

The Hotel Kamari is quite a find in the lovely port of Sifnos. It is on the outskirts of the town, a 10 minutes walk from the port - but that's not such a problem as you walk past most of the restaurants and shops, up the main (the only!) road - and 5 minutes from the lovely sandy and shallow beach. Thanks to the redecoration it's just gone though it's lovely and clean, and the rooms are much larger than you'd expect. The (half English) owners have also twigged that we wanted some of the comforts of home, such as a kettle and shower curtain (a rareity in Greece). The main room has a good double bed (solid if a little firm) and a sofa. There is a TV with Star (but no BBC World). Air con with a quiet mode so you can leave it on overnight, and a balcony (with not much of a view it must be said, but you can see the port in the distance). Alas the balcony is right over the road, and tad noisy. There is new double glazing (and great solid shutters) that did a very good job of keeping the noise out of the room. There is a small kitchen (straight from Ikea) with a kettle, microwave, and fridge. The bathroom is pretty good, although hot water only seemed to appear in the evening, not the morning! There is no internet in the hotel, but the owners told us that there is free wifi & Internet in the Stavros hotel (part of the same chain) down the road - however it was only when we asked we found this out: the hotel staff don't exactly volenteer information, and were formal and polite, but a bit distant. However, I really don't mind that. One last hint - don't call it the Calimari - that's something quite different!

4,0 excellent find!

This little hotel was perfect for 3 nights unwinding in Sifnos... very clean, close to everything and with its own mini kitchenette. Little balcony with seaview and plenty of space. Also very good value as we went slightly out of season

4,0 The perfect place to relax

With arrived on Sifnos with no booking, but were referred to the Kamari by Sarah in Sifnos Travel (vested interest as her Mother in Law runs the Kamari). We were looking for a small studio style apartment with kitchenette. What we got was a large room with kitchenette and attached bathroom and a balcony overlooking the bay. The room (11) has a double bed plus two bed-settees and thus can sleep 5. The room was airy and had both a fan and air conditioning. We used the latter at night only as there was a good through draft through the bathroom window. Every attention to detail had been made: even down to there being hooks to hold back the various doors and windows to aid the through draft. The staff were very attentive and the room was swept out very day, sheets and towels changed every two days. the kitchenette was well equipped and you didn't need to provide your own washing up liquid (which is rare in Greece IMHO). The same was true for toilet rolls. The one, minor, downside was that the main road went past the front of the hotel. However there is only any other than minor traffic when a ferry is due (5-6 times a day). We are both used to sleeping with ear plugs and as the room was double glazed, there was little noise anyway with the windows closed. Very highly recommended, we will certainly return.

3,0 Great beach, Nice but noisy room
SpringGoddess. Austin21/02/2009

We stayed at hotel Kamares for a week in the summer of 2008. We chose the hotel based on Matt Barrett’s recommendation. The hotel is 5 min from the center of the town and 5 min from the beach. The beach was wonderful. I would highly recommend it. It wasn’t crowded and surprisingly there weren’t very many foreigners on the beach. We loved the bay view from our room and the gorgeous views of the sunsets. The rooms are a decent size with a nicely equipped kitchenette. The rooms were cleaned every day with a wet mop but it would have probably been better to have them vacuumed first and then cleaned. By the end of the week, it was easy to see accumulated dust and dirt alongside the walls. The bathrooms were cleaned really well. One thing I didn’t like is that the road right under our window was quite noisy, with busses and motorcycles revving up their engines right under our window. Because of the noise we had to sleep with the balcony door closed. Luckily the rooms had AC which made it more comfortable during the night with balcony door closed. The greek mother of the owner was usually at the hotel lobby. She was incredibly nice and welcoming. The check-in and checkout service was efficient but I was surprised with the coldness of the owners/hosts. Very little conversation, not much warmth. They didn’t even say thank you or express any desire to invite the guests to come back again during the check-out.. They didn’t ask about our stay. It seemed like they were just taking care of the business not much friendliness at all. They were efficient and I have to say they responded quickly to our emails while we were trying to make a reservation.
