The Finnish word Santalahti means literally Sand Bay (santa = sand, lahti = a bay). So this place has nothing to do with Santa Claus. The sandy swimming beach is excellent. Santalahti Resort has a camping area (caravan and van sites, tent sites, glamping cottages) and a separate cottage and villa area on the other side of the street. We stayed in the cottage and villa area and this review is based on it. Our cottage was named Santa Glass Villa. They have three Santa Glass Villas (cottages number 601-602). Our cottage was number 601. The location of Santa Glass Villas is the best possible. Santa Glass Villas are the last cottages on the road of the area. So there isn't any passing traffic there. However, it is only a short way to walk to the swimming beach. There is a wooden walkway (a kind of duckboards) from Santa Glass Villas to the beach and even to the sea. So you don't need to walk on sand and your feet stay clean. This wooden walkway is located between other villas and the sea but there aren't any walkers between Santa Glass Villas and the sea. So Santa Glass Villas offer more privacy than other villas. However, sometimes there may be disc golf players between Santa Glass Villas and the sea but they don't walk right near windows. Santa Glass Villas are mirror glass villas or so called mirror houses. Two walls of each villa are made of one-way mirrors. During a day bright outdoor sunlight hits the exterior coating creating a solid mirror surface outside. So you can see out from the inside but you can't see in from the outside. However, turning on indoor lights during a dark night makes the inside brighter than the outside and the glass becomes transparent from the outside, too. So at least then it is a good idea to use the blackout curtains of the cottage. The sea view is very beautiful from Santa Glass Villas. We even saw swans, the full moon and the most beautiful moonglade (moon path) ever. The only negative thing is that there are several power lines between cottages and the sea. There is an own outdoor jacuzzi (hot whirlpool) on the terrace of each Santa Glass Villa and the sea view is very beautiful from the jacuzzi, too. Two bathroom walls of each Santa Glass Villa are also made of one-way mirrors. It was wonderful to take a shower and watch the beautiful sea view. However, there is a switch for making window glasses in the bathroom frosted and consequently opaque. Just press the button and you can choose if your bathroom windows are frosted or transparent. Santa Glass Villas are the newest cottages of the resort. So there is quite a lot of technology in these cottages, e.g. three different light settings. You need two remote controllers for watching TV. One remote controller adjust the TV stand and another remote controller adjusts the TV. Air conditioning was efficient, too. Santa Glass Villas aren't very big and storage place is very limited. That wasn't any problem in summer but it may be a problem in winter when you need many warm outdoor clothes. By the way, Santa Glass Villas have even window heating. Dishes in the kitchenette are quite limited, too. Prices of Santa Glass Villas are quite high but activities are included in the cottage price: sauna bathing, minigolf, disc golf, SUP boards, kayaks, bikes, electric bikes (in winter fatbikes, skis, snowshoes). Santalahti nature trail is very interesting, too. Read separate Tripadvisor reviews about this beautiful nature trail. Also some snacks and daily cold breakfasts are included in the cottage price. They deliver the breakfast to the cottage. On the day of arrival you find it in the fridge. The breakfast was very good, I think. I really can recommend Santa Glass Villa to adults. It is fantastic!
