We visited in September last year, our first night after the ferry crossing and loved it so much we chose this as our final stop on the way home this year. Although we were shown to our room I think there was a little reluctance. Room seemed fine, spacious etc. Until we went into the bathroom and discovered we were unable to close the door from the inside. The handle was missing. In order to get a member of staff we had to go down to the front door and ring the bell again. She didn’t seem to understand why the missing handle was a problem but I managed to convey ( in French) that we could not stay in that room. Eventually she moved us to a room on the 2nd floor, overlooking the garden. This was also spacious with a very good en-suite. Although they’ve retained a lot of the original features in this beautiful building, the bathrooms are modern and the refurbishment has kept everything in keeping with the building. Very comfortable bed. Good toiletries in the bathroom and a surprisingly good shower for such an old building. Lovely big windows overlooking the garden which has quite a number of massive trees. One of our reasons for our return was the quality of the food in the dining room. Sadly, the restaurant was closed. I don’t know if this is the norm there on Tuesdays. If so, this should be made clear when booking, especially as there’s not much in the area. Fortunately we were given the names of and directions to two restaurants not too far away. Breakfast: again, not quite up to last year’s standards. We had to ask for cups, plates and glasses as there were none left. I’m sure there was more choice on our previous visit. It felt like no one really cared. But the dining room is at the rear and overlooks the garden - very pleasant. Breakfast was 10 euros each. Location: not that exciting but convenient for us - less than 70 miles to the ferry port. The view across the road at the front is to a factory but the building is beautiful and so are the grounds. It felt peaceful and despite the little disappointments we enjoyed our stay. Disabled facilities - not aware of any. Steep steps to front door (may be an alternative entrance at the back) No ground floor rooms that we’re aware of and the staircases are old and not easy for someone with limited mobility.

En general una buena experiencia. El hotel está situado en la carretera de la estación (Rue de la Gare) en Corbehem en lo que es un área industrial mini, hay una panadería pequeña pero aburrida a 3 minutos a pie del hotel. El hotel en sí tiene una fachada exterior algo cansados, amplificados por la caer hojas otoñales y al entrar en esa misma sensación se mantiene. Se trata por lo tanto como una sorpresa muy agradable que las habitaciones son luminosas, cálidas y modernas y muy confortables con instalaciones en suite. La estancia fue muy razonable y agradable. El personal es amable, pero no hablaba inglés en absoluto. La bondad para WiFi gratuito y Google Translate. Pago de la estancia se compone de recepción para la duración y tarjetas de crédito son aceptadas. El desayuno era un opcional, adicional 10 € por persona, que nos decidimos por y decidimos comprar nuestro pan diario bastante y cruasanes del local u otras panaderías y pastelerías cerca. Corbehem en sí tiene muy pocos restaurantes, hay sin embargo una cerveza y un Restaurantes & Co Cadena Buffalo Grill unos 5 minutos en coche. La estación es tan clausuradas corbehem, no estoy seguro de lo que sería el transporte ferroviario en la zona. El único aspecto negativo sería que la directora del hotel y el fuma bastante fuertemente a través del humo de las chimeneas sobre 08 h hotel desde 00 de la mañana (hay una política de no fumar en todas las habitaciones afortunadamente).

Well, different is not the word for it, after booking online with a very impressive website, the staff were not exactly what you would expect, we had a big language barrier to start with but we got around that, No complaints with our room, it was spacious and clean. We were in the town to attend a funeral, after having a meal in the local Buffalo grill that evening we searched the town for a bar but the whole town was shut. We went back to the hotel, two of the staff were in the the reception area where there seemed to be some sort of bar, we asked if it was possible to have a bottle of wine, out of nowhere a man appeared claiming to be the owner and ushered us both into another large room the guy didn't speak English or so he said, I detected at least three other languages as he babbled on nonstop, he showed us to a large table where his life seemed to be spread all over it, remnants of food , a half empty bottle of Tequila and two gin bottles laying on the table. He poured my wife a huge glass of Tequila and placed it in front of her demanding she drunk it which she refused and I told him to back off. He then picked up a tray with six huge cigars on it, all had been lit and smoked at some time, he again tried to get us to join him in smoking one, which again we refused I stood up and said thank you but we are leaving he tried to block our way but thought better of it. If he was the owner something was seriously wrong with him. I wedged a chair under the door handle before going to bed. The breakfast was good no complaints there. I concur with a previous comment, Fawley Towere with a very sinister owner.

We were very disappointed by the overall ambience of the hotels and rooms. It seems rather faded and showing it is past its prime. We knew that there was no evening meal and Douai has many excellent restaurants. However the breakfast offering represented poor value for money with a bare minimum of choice with the cheeses and ham left in their vacuum packed pouches. The same fruit (1 apple and 6 kiwis) were looking very tired at the end of our stay. The room was not cleaned during the three day stay and whilst, not a great issue for us as we are tidy and do our own bed-making but we would have thought that a hotel of the alleged rating to do something more,. There are no room facilities other than wifi and TV - no English channels. There is a wall mounted A/C. We shall not return.

“Grubby”

Nice on the outside but our room was at the very top of the hotel with no elevator. Exhausting, and no help with suitcases available. The room was grubby with a dirty and stained bed cover. The sheets were clean and the shower worked fine. Only one chair between two of us. Nothing really nearby but… Más

Nice on the outside but our room was at the very top of the hotel with no elevator. Exhausting, and no help with suitcases available. The room was grubby with a dirty and stained bed cover. The sheets were clean and the shower worked fine. Only one chair between two of us. Nothing really nearby but a nice bakery a few meters away for breakfast. Ate dinner in the local Buffalo Grill.
