Booked for evening meal for our anniversary, food was perfect as was the service. Beef suet pudding was the best I have ever had,well done team.

Came here for New Year’s Day. Food was brilliant. Up there with the best Sunday roast we have had. Cosy pub excellent service and atmosphere you want from a village pub. Can’t recommend this enough and we will 100% be coming back to stay and eat.

Lovely pub with very good service and friendly staff. Went as a group and had a most enjoyable evening with excellent food, particularly the Cheese Souffle and the Beef Suet Pudding. We all enjoyed the first courses and main courses without exception, BUT sadly the puddings really let the menu down. Non of us had STP as we get it a lot around here and always want to try something different. Chef, please take off the Bread and Butter Pudding topped with gloopy Birds Custard. It was really dreadful; hard crusted bread and nothing like a B&B pudding should be. The second option chosen was the White Chocolate Creameux which came with pears and some dusting of pistachio from memory. The chocolate bit was fine, but the pears were like bits of dried pear and not an ounce of juice to moisten them. It was almost inedible and pears were left well alone. It needs soft poached pears with some pear jus or something to give the pudding depth. Wines...need to find another wine supplier. Would be go back, yes, for the starters and mains.

I booked this hotel based on all the five star reviews. Initially we were impressed by the friendly staff and lovely, relaxed bar atmosphere. However, there are a couple of things that made this an OK stay rather than a great stay. Firstly, the bedroom. It was perfectly fine, but there are two separate emergency ceiling lights in the room where the green LEDs are on all night night. It is not noticeable until it gets dark, but once it does, having these green LEDs illuminate the room made it difficult for me to sleep. Secondly, although everyone else raves about the breakfast it was far from good for us. The pictures on the poster outside the Inn show a different reality to what you get. I ordered a veggie breakfast. No jam for the toast and the veggie sausage was one of those awful mashed potato and pea jobs that were so beloved of the eighties. We have moved on now, what’s wrong with Quorn ones, or one of the many other varieties commonly available? No jam, cheap sausage, no yoghurt choice, no pastries…all in all a below par breakfast. Anyhoo, as I say, the stay was ok, the staff friendly and if you rat meat I am sure it is fine.
